2003年5月8日午後10時40分、我家のペット、アップルが亡くなりました。享年19歳8ヶ月。人間で言えば140歳に相当する大往生でした。妻に体をなでてもらいながら肉体のすべてを使い切って静かに眠るがごとくあちらの世界に移ってゆきました。
アップルは１９８３年９月、米国ニューヨーク州のリンゴ園で生まれました。たまたまリンゴ狩りに家族で行ったときに出会い、我が家の大切なメンバーになりました。その後、ニューヨークから帰国、我々と一緒に神奈川、東京と生活を共にしました。
あまり愛想は良くなくいつもマイペースでしたが、非常にハンサムで美しい猫でした。そして存在感のある猫でした。生前、皆さまからも心にかけていただいたことをアップルに成り代わり厚く御礼申し上げます。
At 10:40 PM on May 8, 2003, our pet cat, Apple passed away. He was 19 years
8 months old, equivalent to 140 years old in human years. While being caressed
by my wife, his soul left his body quietly just like he was sleeping and
having had consumed all of his corporality.
Born in September 1983 in an apple farm in New York State, he became our
important family member when we visited there. Then, we moved from New
York to Japan, living with us in several locations.
Though he was always very independent and never flattered people, he was
a handsome cat that had the gift of presence. On behalf of Apple, I thank
you for caring about him for so many years.
